Having signed its first HB200 partner agreement in August, Zaph & Zoe now turns to a field day planned for October 2026 to bring buyers, media and partners onto the farms.
Zaph & Zoe Agro Export — a major player in the Nigerian hibiscus flower export market — has launched its Project HB200, a 200-hectare hibiscus flower outgrower programme in northern Nigeria. The launch follows a successful pilot phase, including the company’s first signed farmer agreement in August, and continues with a field day planned for October 2026, as the company expands its footprint across the agro-export industry ahead of the new harvest season.
Expanding Our Footprint
Project HB200’s pilot phase has proved out the model Zaph & Zoe is now scaling: written farmer agreements signed ahead of harvest, farms recorded individually, and produce trained and aggregated toward export grade. On the strength of that pilot, the company is formally launching HB200 and preparing to bring more hibiscus-growing communities in northern Nigeria into the programme.
The move is part of a broader expansion of Zaph & Zoe’s footprint in the Nigerian agro-export industry, building on its position as a major supplier of export-grade hibiscus flowers to international buyers.
The Pilot Signing
The pilot began on 29 August 2026, when Zaph & Zoe signed its first HB200 partnership agreement with a community of smallholder hibiscus flower farmers in northern Nigeria. The agreement was read aloud in full — in English, then interpreted into the local language — before three lead farmers signed on behalf of the community, witnessed by the village head and the women’s leader.
Over 600 farmers and the full 200 hectares are committed under that first agreement, meeting the project’s 200-hectare target from this initial signing.
Field Day
Having signed its first HB200 partnership agreement in August, Zaph & Zoe is now planning a field day for October 2026, in northern Nigeria, giving buyers, media and partners the opportunity to visit the farms directly and see the crop, the farmer records and the training programme firsthand. The date remains tentative and will be confirmed closer to the time.

HB200 works because we signed before there was anything to buy, while both sides could agree on the merits and not under pressure. Our Commitment to Traceability
Traceability sits at the centre of Project HB200. Every participating farm is recorded in Zaph & Zoe’s farmer database, with farm location, farm size and yield history logged against the individual farmer. Produce is trained, aggregated and graded against export specification, with every batch traceable back to the community that grew it — addressing the contamination and lack of traceability that have long affected hibiscus flowers sourced from Nigeria.
Preparing for the New Season
Hibiscus flowers in northern Nigeria are generally sown at the onset of the rains, around May to July, and harvested from roughly November through January. With the new harvest season approaching, Zaph & Zoe is focused on field training, post-harvest handling, and building out the farmer records and cooperative structure that will carry HB200 into its first full season.
What Each Side Committed To
The agreement is a two-way structure, not a purchase order, and its terms were read aloud in full before anyone signed:
Two terms are stated explicitly. The agreement does not fix a price in advance — Zaph & Zoe commits to aggregate produce at the best price available at the time of sale, not a guaranteed rate; a fixed-price arrangement would require a separate written commercial agreement. And it transfers no land: the agreement gives Zaph & Zoe no ownership of any farm, and farmers keep full ownership of their land throughout.

HB200 is Zaph & Zoe’s hibiscus flower outgrower project in northern Nigeria, covering 200 hectares of hibiscus flowers cultivated in partnership with smallholder farmers. It runs from the field through aggregation, drying, grading and training, to export, and is built on written agreements signed with farming communities ahead of each season.
